Pictures Talking

Here’s something new! Sprung from a creative afternoon on the sofa with Angela Chick, and a donation of paints from a much-missed Grandpa, I made these.

That last one there is my favourite, and I’d like to do this on a large scale. All the above were made using wall-paint as the speech bubble – to help get that stark edge, which I want more practice at. The orange text is with watercolour and the thinest brush ever. Slight issue with magazine paper going wrinkly with the paint, may try ironing the paper after painting. Now need to collect more B&W images of people at parties, having a nice time.

Har Mar Superstar

I used to listen to this crazy guy when I was younger. He popped into my mind whilst in the shower this morning, and I find out that he’s on a UK tour NOW, in Bristol in a few days. How strange is that!

This Har Mar persona is something I haven’t seen before. He tries to be so sexy, and he’s completely not. It’s incredible. I like how passionate he is. Wikipedia says: “Har Mar Superstar is a character who bears several physical and behavioral similarities to porn starRon Jeremy; he is chubby, he often performs his shows nearly nude, and appears obsessed with his own sexual prowess.”  His music is apparently an ‘unmistakeable brand of libidinous disco funk’

He’s playing at the Thekla on 1st December. To go or not to go?

I still quite like his song ‘Power Lunch’ featuring Beth Ditto! Youtube video? Go on. It’s awful!

Richard Madely

Hello! This is the start of my blog, and about time too! I am using this blog as the place to document my daily creative endeavors.

So today, i cooked a delicious roast dinner, my second one ever. Cooking can feel creative to me, especially so when it is Sunday and we are a little bit hungry – but are willing to wait a bit. It’s a pleasure to cook.

I drew this little Richard Madely, it doesn’t look like him, but it still is. I was inspired by Lazy Oaf’s Gemma Shiel who has made this print of Eastenders characters. So cute. She draws lovely noses!

I have been super-productive yesterday and today, reasearching and reading so many arty websites, which are going to help me to get out of this ‘un-motivated/artist’s block’ kind of thing. There is so much information online for arts graduates who need help setting up, which i didn’t know about. It feels good.
