Pictures Talking

Here’s something new! Sprung from a creative afternoon on the sofa with Angela Chick, and a donation of paints from a much-missed Grandpa, I made these.

That last one there is my favourite, and I’d like to do this on a large scale. All the above were made using wall-paint as the speech bubble – to help get that stark edge, which I want more practice at. The orange text is with watercolour and the thinest brush ever. Slight issue with magazine paper going wrinkly with the paint, may try ironing the paper after painting. Now need to collect more B&W images of people at parties, having a nice time.

Forgotten work

A new year de-clutter. I’ve been organising things on my computer better. Part of this involved wading through thousands of photographs, deleting and shifting around. Collating the images of things I’ve made into one big folder. It’s been a bit of a mission, but also enjoyable to be reminded of things I’ve created/found and forgotten about, such as these:

Collages, all together.

These beautiful keys, which belong to the caretaker at Redland Girls School.

Trying new methods of drying the ‘glue moulds’ this patch never, ever dried.

Complete glue moulds, peeled off a strong plastic surface. So brightly coloured although I never used much ink.

My father’s difficult hand writing. A bad list! More of a statement.

The first sewing drawing, during a residency at a secondary school.

A little brainstorm which sums up everything. Colour and repetition.

Redland Girls Summer Fete + Lucy Survey

ARE YOU CALLED LUCY? The online survey is up online, please take part if you are called luck, and please don’t if you are not called Lucy! Here’s the link: How lucky are people called Lucy

This Saturday I had a stall at the Redland Girls School Summer fete. What a gorgeous school! Claire and I set up the most delightful table, the ‘Love’ and ‘Laugh’ are the first two text pieces I ever made, It was nice to have them be part of this. I was commissioned for three artworks (amazing!!!) and had a lovely day out in the sun with my friend

Here’s the stall:

And a caretaker let me photograph his amazing key bunch:
